Today at Mix09 Microsoft annouced a new tool to help out the poor web developer. It's called the Expression Web SuperPreview, a tool which will allow a user to view a website in a view of IE6 and then do a side by side view with either IE 7 or 8. A even cooler aspect is that you can do a rendering overlay. You can take IE6's version and overlay IE8 on top and see in realtime what the differences are in the way a page is rendered.

It's good to see MS doing stuff like this. Maybe a real shift in attitude :-)

Thanks for the tip. I'm downloading now. Pity it's 250Mb!

For those that have or are downloading this cool tool. It seems that there are few issues and/or problems associated with it.

If you only have IE6 installed, you'll only get IE6. With IE7 installed, you'll get 6 and 7. With IE8 installed, you'll get 6 and 8 with/without compatiblity mode. Seems that if you're running one of the Windows 7 betas, you won't get IE6 at all. So that's one issue.

Firefox and Safari aren't support with the Trial Preview. Once Expression 3 comes out, you'll get full support for these browser also.

When analyzing a page, SuperPreview is going to take up a lot of memory on your machine. There is a known work around for this.
