I saw some good reviews about 3ix.org hosting and signed up for their 1$ per month hosting. I paid for 2 domains and one hosting, they gave me an account and i wasn't able to login to the account for few hours. So, i asked them what was going and and came a reply that my account is banned due to fraud or something. so, i contacted their billing section and there is no reply at all. on top of that, they also banned my ip from accessing the website.

all i know is i lost 70 bucks! no hosting, no domains, no reply, nothing.

Just want to ask if anyone of you had any experience like this with a hosting provider ? i would like to get my money back. since i dont live in US, I believe i won't be able to do any legal actions. sad

Honestly, what do you expect for $1.00 a month? I know this sucks, and I hope it works out.

Do a whois lookup on the domain name. The website has a live chat thing too. So if you can't view the site from your place because of the IP blocking, go to another place, a friends, the library, etc... and try to contact them again.

Good luck with getting it resolved.

Yeah.. i dont know. i saw these reviews in some forums and thought it was good. i was quiet happy with my resellerzoom account. they are really great. but thought i'd buy some cheap hosting and see if it is any good.

anyway, i will have to try it from my office pc. i also contacted paypal resolution center.

I should have really checked the site thoroughly neutral

One way of telling if there are real satisfied customers and an actual support team is to see if the host provides a user forum. If they do, check it and things should go fine if others agree.

If they don't have a forum full of happy customers and a support team then do more research.

i was with 3ix.org for a while, also on the $1/month package - the first 4 months was great; next to no downtime, prompt replies to my support requests, etc.
then all of a sudden my account was banned - apparently a contact form on my site was being used to send spam or something. i wasn't exactly sure how they came to that conclusion, since anything sent through the contact form would have gone to me and only me, and i wasn't receiving any spam from it. but i didn't find any of this out until i had sent around 5 emails to them - all they did was block my account, no emails to me explaining what had been done or what i could do to fix it (which wouldn't have been much since i couldn't log in via ftp). needless to say i was pretty pissed off - i decided to move hosts and i asked for a refund, since i had paid for another 8 months of hosting (a whopping $8), but they said no.
i hope you have better luck than i did, ramblingsoul.

He doesn't expect to loose $70 that's what. And in any case if site is 'free' then what? Also regardless how much someone charges for somthing, if they claim to give a service then you sort of expect that... don't you?

@perthmetro: I don't expect him to loose his cash either but my point was for $1.00 a month, people should not expect to receive top notch customer service.

Since he did pay money to them, of course he should get some service, I just wouldn't expect snappy service.

I once did a $3.00/month host deal when I first starting up. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised when my site data was lost and the last backup was done 6 weeks past.

Hosting is one of those things where there's a "too cheap" option.

Okay.. good news for me. As a last try, i sent them a mail saying that i'd take legal action.. lol. Now, the money is refunded. But still there is no reply from them. and my ip is still banned.

thanks everyone for the help. Sean, thank you very much for the tip you sent me. :)

That is very generous yugnats. thank you! i will send you a mail, however, I may not be needing one as I will use my existing resellerzoom account for it.

It is true Nicky, we have quality people here.

Looks like a couple a few other people had problems with the same host, the reviews are over here.

Never experienced anything like that, kind of lucky. Just had problems with downtime canaca and globat, but support is great.

Indeed, everyone is nice and helpful, unique community. wink

    Hi ramblingsoul,

One of our clients pointed out your post here so I wanted to respond and clarify exactly what occured in your case ...

You placed multiple orders using an Unverified PayPal account and were 4000 miles away from your given address, which created a high fraud score, it seems that you emailed billing who work 9am-5pm US-EST, our Sales and Support repond to emails in 30-90 minutes, alternatively our 24x7 live chat would have advised the position and asked for further ID verification.

We refunded the amount the same day, there was no question of us keeping your money, any amounts received under suspected fraud are refunded within 24 hours

Sean.. "Honestly, what do you expect for $1.00 a month?"

Whether you pay 3iX $1 or $8 a month you get the same level of service, high 99% uptime, Live 24x7 support, generous space and full features, nobody checks how much you pay when you go on chat or contact support, they support you the best they can, the team work very hard doing that.

3iX serve more than 30,000 clients worldwide and it's our aim to offer a supported, reliable hosting service at an affordable price, which I'm confident that we do the majority of the time, sorry that things didn't work out in your case.

well, 3ix, you could have said the same by email when i asked for help. there wasn't even a proper reply as to why and what reasons.. so i could understand. and now that your reputation is getting tarnished you took the brave step to answer (finally) to the questions asked. lol

First impression is the best impression. and you failed miserably.

    cheers bakie

Our system checks the user IP address to see if it is high risk location, it also calculates the distance that you are from where you say you are, it uses all the data to build a fraud score, too high a score means that your order will need manual verification by our staff.
