Hey, that is great! I think this forum would be awesome with some post counts and syntax highlighting.

  3. I asked to be on the team and also received an email from joe confirming that I would be a moderator...

    Hello everyone,
Thanks for your continued interest in helping with the Open Designs site. We’d like to let you know that we’d love to have you on our board of moderators.

Can anyone on this board of admins and/or moderators please fix the profile page on this site. Come on people, it's a designers site and the profile page can't even render right in a Grade A browser.

You'll need an Admin to do that. Moderators only have limited privileges!

He is no longer an admin but he's still listed as a moderator. Other than that, not sure since I have not talked to him in 3-4 weeks now.

I was also welcomed to the team, but as of yet have no power. I'm not listed on this thread, although I am still officially on the board. Ethan or Joe: can you make me a moderator again, so that I can keep doing what I have been doing for over 2 years?

  12. Could you update the list of team members, it sounds like there are moderators that aren't listed. Thanks!

@ Gnome, not sure having the power is going to do much good. Things seem to have gone from bad to worse, unless you have been granted admin rights!

All moderators that 'have the power' can approve and not approve designs, remove threads, etc. The difference with admin rights is you can add and remove members, edit theme files, etc but even someone with admin access doesn't have full power unless they can access the server/FTP accounts, etc. so being marked as an admin isn't too much more power over a moderator, unless something is different on the backend that I am not aware of.

When I said "admin rights" I wasn't trying to be to literal about it.

Sean, I think you need to relax a little and have a bakie.

@Ainslie: I'm completely relaxed, so no worries. Oh and thank you for the bakie :)

  21. Congratulations to all new admins and moderators!
However I haven't seen new designs approved for a while now. What's going on?

  22. Congratulations! I guess...

Due to a glitch, new designs are not on the front page. Joe has a solution. I have no ETA for that, but the designs are coming, just not on the front page. Sorry.

Good luck to the new team, although the confusion about who's on it looks like a shaky start. The #1 thing this site has to do to keep alive is keep designers happy and wanting to come back. The best way to keep designers happy is to keep the queue down so that new templates come up quickly.

Joe has a solution? Bull **** he has a solution. If he did to anything then why isn't he here.
How about the solution where he comes here and tells us about it.

Good luck to the new team? Bradm have you been here lately? There is nothing the new team can do and Joe ditched the site because _______________(fill in the blank), and the new team work really hard but has no ability to fix the problems or take control of the site, which they have needed to for about 2 months, since the current amin(s) and owner(s) DO NOT GIVE A CRAP

No offense to the active mods, because its not your fault. In fact the mods/community members should be rewarded for their actual work on a site that was built for a community.

It's really the fault of the people who commandeered the site and forced it into a pathetic anarchy.

    Good day

Jason, maybe you should hold off on approvals until it gets fixed. I know I had a couple of designs that never made it to the home page, and went someplace on the site. I was not to happy about it. I think all the designers deserve some front page attention with their work. Although the site is not so active, people are still coming here. The alexa ranking was under 30,000......

I completely agree with this which is the main reason for the site in the first place, to help promote the designers and the templates they create.

I also feel if Joe has any time to answer an email or an IM, he should have 10 seconds to post a comment or a thread on the forum.

The Alexa ranking can easily be adjusted / faked, so don't put too much weight into what the rank says.

So how do you get a better Alexa ranking? The short answer is all you have to do is install the Alexa browser tool bar and visit your target site and start hitting refresh a bunch. If you do this every day for a couple weeks, it will adjust a sites ranking, pretty much like the download counter for designs on OD.

Granted OD had had a lot of traffic the past couple of years so it would have a somewhat better ranking then other sites, but I also know from being a past admin on the site and seeing logs that a few people visiting the site were using the Alexa tool bar.

Finally, now for the people out there didn't know about this little trick, know it, lets watch people start getting better Alexa rankings :)
