It's that time again people, WordPress have released another update...

We have a security update release now available for both the 2.1 and 2.0 branches of WordPress now available for immediate download. This update is highly recommend for all users of both branches.

These releases include fixes for several publicly known minor XSS issues, one major XML-RPC issue, and a proactive full sweep of the WordPress codebase to protect against future problems. Many thanks to Sumit Siddharth and Alex Concha for their help with reporting issues in this release.

As an update to the systems issue we had last month, we have taken dozens of additional precautions with the servers and systems that run WordPress.org and they appear to be working well, despite hundreds of hack attempts after we publicly disclosed there had been a problem. We are also now aggressively monitoring all downloads for any changes or modifications, and we are confident the same type of problem won’t happen again.

Yeah I know the feeling, that's the one thing I dislike about using WordPress, the constant updates!

p.s. forgot to ask, but did you manage to get WordPress working in it's own directory, or do you need any help with it?

shamed You know, I kind of chickened out of going through with it! I got it working in a different directory, but haven't figured out how to get pages into their own directories...

...and now my parents are in town and they kind of *cough* keep one occupied!

@Christopher: WordPress has a normal release schedule now. WordPress 2.2 will be released on April 22.

These two releases were done as a security measure, so it's a good thing... I actually wish other companies did more frequent releases... helps keep things safe and secure.

I know I'm double-posting, but I just had to let everyone know that I updated from 2.0.7 to 2.1.3, and all went well.

So... if anyone else has been procrastinating like I was, you have no excuse any more!! bakie

Shouldn't the title of this post be:

"WordPress 2.1.3 and 2.0.10 updated" instead of WordPress 2.1.3 and 2.1.10 updated

Pursuant to that, I cannot find 2.0.10.

http://wordpress.org/download/ just offers a download for 2.1.3 I see no link to the 2.0x versions

Anybody else feel as dopey as me?bakie

Haha yes it should, sorry about that, my fault with the title!

The WordPress download page only has the latest and greatest stable version available for download on it. For any older versions, and updates to previous versions, you need to visit the WordPress release archive and choose the correct update / version there, in this case the download for 2.0.10 can be found here. Hope that helps smile

    Yeah that helps!
    Thanks

My only trouble with the 2.1x versions is that most of the folks here did not seem to like it and so many plugins hiccupped with it.

So, I have stayed in the 2.0x chassis bakie

I guess I am not sure what to do now.

Well WordPress is going to keep updating the 2.0.x branch for a few years for security patches and bug fixes but any and all new features will only be put into the 2.1.x brand and again, WordPress 2.2.0 is coming on or around April 22, 2007.
