Some ideas for you...

The header image is rather large, so I understand trying to keep the file size down. However, the splatter looks bad, here's a link to an article aboutOptimizing images for the web

Besides that, the only other thing I would change, well not change, but add, is a hover for when you mouse over images.. Just a simple dark grey border would be fine.

Good job overall though!

I actually like the orange subheader and would say, if anything, make it brighter (like #FC0 instead of #F93) and involve it more in the overall design. I think you've done a good job porting 20pirates' awesome design, but if you've lost anything, I think it's that boldness of multiple colors. What if you added some orange splat to the header? You could then even involve some orange in the navigation so that it's not just graytone and red.

I agree. Maybe a very light gray (#eee) or white.

Thank you all for your criticisms! I decided to stick with the orange subheader, and incorporate that colour throughout the design a little more.

bradm81, I tried brightening it, as you suggested, but it clashed with the colour scheme and didn't really fit.

I tried it out with a jagged bottom border, and it looks great!

I've done a hover on the lightbox images, as well as the inline links.

I tried raising the picture quality, but it made the file size around 120kb! Any other suggestions? I'm using Paint.NET.
