    I think we need another appointed position....Treasurer.

    If this website is going to holding contests and receiving donations, someone will have to receive and dish out the funds.

    Thoughts?

    a swiss bank account with the admins all having access would do it, but it probably should be formalized.

    or just a plain old paypal account...

    Yeah, I'm really not sure what would be the best way to handle this. But I was thinking paypal as well.

    edit: I did a little searching, and I can't really find anything special on paypal for non-profit groups.

    I mentioned in a previous thread that so far people have donated a total of $60.00 USD to this project via my paypal donation button on my site, so if you want to donate until we get something more official in place, use my donate button and be sure to send me a message or email that your donation is to be used for this new project.

    i also think its important to have a donation/expense page showing a running total of where all of the money(hopefully) that gets collected goes. it should break down expenses, etc and everytime something is purchased with this money it has to be justified.

    I agree that how money is used for the site should be voted on. For now, hosting is free to the community courtesy of me boogie which I have no problem in doing but at some point, we might want to have other things like stickers, paid advertising on other sites, etc but I think for now we should just build up a savings and then figure out what to do with it... maybe have an annual designer party... the OpenDesignersCon 2007 or something?!

    I'm not sure about voted on, If we need a small script or service, there's no reason to have all members vote on it. Most of the donated money will be going to contests anyways.
    But I do agree strongly that income/expenses should be shown to the public.

    maybe anything over a ceratin amount would need a vote. A small script could probably be created by some of the great minds here. Check and balances. I agree on the income/expenses report as well.

    That would be awesome. I would love to meet everyone in person, and have a few drinks with those, that cared to join me.. Maybe even learn a thing or two...

    I'll prepare a christmas gift for the project, and forward all donations I get during December straight into this project. It is impossible to know how much it would be, but it should atleast be enough to get the first contest going.
