    - Multiplatform desktop applications (WxWidgets)
    - Rich client applications (XUL, Eclipse RCP, Openlaszlo)
    - Linux programming (Core, Gtk+)
    - Database (MySQL/SQlite, Clustering, Query optimization)
    - Custom linux distribution (Morphix remastered)

Also, don't hesitate to contact me if you have any other requirements.

    Hi,
for long time, I am planning to start project, which can be possibly useful not only for one, but for many non-profits.
It should be combination of web site and sidebar for Firefox (SeaMonkey) about games in real world (dramatic games, psycho games, games just for fun...). Users can share games, that know and learn new from others and try it with friends (sort of web 2.0). Users can also add comments and alternative rules. Photos of game are also welcomed. It can be also possible to share materials needed to play the games - e.g. what should be printed.
What should be different from other similar sites is strong orientation on meta data (you should choose games for 1-10 players, children 4-10 years old, etc.) and above mentioned Firefox sidebar, which would allow users to download games to off line and use them in places, where there is no internet connection around (say, summer camp). Games are still searchable and sortable. When users is connected on internet again, all his games can be updated. Final idea is, that users do not have to visit pages at all - they can use all features from sidebar.
So project would require programming in XUL and PHP (+ MySQL) and communication of both. I do not require designing of the site. It would be great if someone can start in this project, so I have something I can start on and later resume.

    Thanks

An interesting idea, (maybe start a new topic unless GG is up for helping?).

I am intrigued to know what kind of games you mean, like board games, card games, hide and go seek e.t.c? Also what is 'psycho game', here in the United Kingdom that kind of thing sounds like it will involve the police ;).

Sharing games is a hard area to break into for many reasons.

About games... I do not know, how to come near. I think all sorts, that you meant is included, but it is only beginning. Maybe, that there is problem with word game. I am not enough good in English, but i think, that some of activities, that we (in Czech. Rep.) call games may be simply known as activities. So I will try to describe here closer what sorts of games I mean (with short description or example). Of course it is not complete, just for imagination:

    • Adventure games - Mostly in nature, lot of running, hiding, throwing paper missiles to enemies, etc.

    • Games to strengthen goodwill in group - E.g. Jump of the confidence - one jumps and is catch by people.

    • Eco games - Simulating principles of nature, depiction of threats to environment, etc.

    • Initiative games - Group is facing common problem - e.g. There is ball in bucket in center of circle. Group must take it without moving bucket and intrusion of area by any part of body (of course rope is needed)

    • Icebreakers - There is group of anonymous people so make them start communicate with each other!

    • Lowly structured games - There is circus coming to our village. It will be big carnival! So we must prepare it. One player is mayor, another innkeeper and so on...

    • Night games - Some games have simply best impact when played at night. For example "Night descent" - players are moved some km's away from camp and they have to find way back.

    • Psycho games (maybe better psychological games) - Games in which players have chance to learn something about themselves. Strong feelings, emotions. Must be played with psychologist prepared to help players.

    • Art games - Games connected with arts (painting, modeling).Mostly popular ones. May be connected with some of the genres mentioned above.

Maybe I move this stuff to separate thread some day, but for now I hope you are interested enough.

    Aaron, You've Got a Reply :)

    Milhaus & Syuk,
The idea, you suggested regarding game sharing, is not of much interest to me. Please go ahead with your idea. Good luck.
