So , all that needs to be done is to replace the 6 old files with the six new ones?

No need to disable plugins, delete 2.06 etc? Just upload the new files and that's it. Correct?

I am sorry, I meant wait until 3.0 comes out. Yeah, that's the ticket.

I did the upgrade on OpenDesigns.org yesterday without any issues. There were only a few file changes, nothing to do with database changes at all.

Taken from the WordPress Development Blog:

Because this is a much smaller update than previous versions, you do not have to update all of WordPress' files if you're upgrading from version 2.0.6. Here is the list of files that have changed since 2.0.6:

    wp-admin/inline-uploading.php
    wp-admin/post.php
    wp-includes/classes.php
    wp-includes/functions.php
    wp-settings.php
    wp-includes/version.php

It's a very easy thing to do.

Well, I hope I understood WP and Sean. I just renamed the files that were changed and uploaded the new ones in their place. I figured if anything went wrong then I could just default back to the old 206 files.

    Seems to have worked though.

Your database is out-of-date. Please upgrade

There were some database updates in 2.0.5 but nothing changed in the database for 2.0.6 or 2.0.7, only files.
