Boo....but, at least it's got some competition now. Hopefully they'll keep screwing up and giving away more of their marketshare.

First off all. it just clarifies that M$ are as evil as anything.
Now for their motive: With their big corporate market share, they feel that they can stop advancement on web standards by doing this, even if only in the area of HTML email. They even have the **** **** to create their own "validator" (yes, that's what they call it) to check if a HTML email matches THEIR new HTML standards.
THe scary thing is that it might just work. Unlike home users, it takes years before a a company will try something other then what they're used to.

Jeremy: Just kill that obsessive apple hatred wink. They were about to sign an agreement, so i guess one of the sides backed out on the last minute, after the name was announced.

reminds me of Sony. Just because Sony has been successful in the past, they think they can do whatever they want (I'm talking about the PS3, of course).
And like Sony, Msoft thinks they can do w/e they want.

I went to MacWorld the other day and one of the first booths I came across was Microsoft's. Save for a few MS employees, the space was deserted. devil

I guess one of the good things I can say about this is that they're seperating Outlook from IE. Oh, and I know several people who don't like receiving e-mail "webpages" so they're probably grateful.

    Off Topic:
The iPhone looks really cool - super slick, great design, and awesome features. The Apple rep presented it very well. It uses Safari to render web pages the way it was intended to look like, so that's great news for designers. I want one, but at $600, it's a tad expensive, no? cry

There was no agreement over the name. Apple did make soma offers about the name, but cisco needs that name for it own phone producs (the voip phones). So Apple decied to use the name anyway... Offcource they need to change the name, but now they have many many free marketing about the thingy, and cisco looks the "bad guy" even the real "bad guy" is name stealing apple
