    What exactly is a holiday?
To me it does not happen on the regular holiday date as I am self-employed or more to the point a family operated business.

To me a holiday is not necessarily a regular holiday, but maybe just a regular day off. Or any day I happen to want to take off, however this does not happen upon regular holidays. Like Christmas, new years, as these dates seem to mean more work...for me at least. To me as a family run business or a self employed individual. A day off can be just be a day at the movies , or a evening out with friends . Here’s to you all the self employed individuals running your own businesses. I salute you. And here’s to a great 2007. may your personal holidays be wonderful and spectacular. Have a great 2007 everyone

I salute you all who have become their own bosses or have taken their future into their own hands.

yippee for us and the future. And for 2007 may every one prosper and be happy. I myself would not change it for anything in the world...

    clap

Wow! thinking about it, I really need a day off.
For me, a vacation is getting into my car, sometimes bringing along a friend or three, and driving down to Eilat. The 3 hour drive is pretty relaxing itself. Once we get there, we either camp out on the beach, or go to some hotel. And then spend a few days doing nothing.
I've done this about 10 times in the last 3 years.

yep, holidays rock no matter how you slice 'em even if you dont celebrate the traditional ones. everyone needs time off or you get burnt out! i did it when i was in my early twenty's and it sucked. i had no life because of work for a few years.

I think I might have had one too many beers last night... but overall it does not have too much rambling and the basic post makes a little sense I guess. So here's to days off and being your own boss.

Happy New Year to everyone as well!

I live in England, and trades people here (builders, glaziers e.t.c) take 2 weeks at christmas, meaning a 14 day holiday for most of them.

I took a week over christmas and was back on Jan 2nd, meanwhile my mates in the trades are too skint now to sit in the pub all day, and after a week of holidays are too riled to sit at home with kids off school and wives off work!
