I am thinking about getting a VPS for my clients because their drupal sites are exceeding their memory limit at time (32MB). I have tried optimizing, but nothing works. I don't have root access, so PHP APC cache is out. I plan on using Gate.coms's vps u100 plan. It gives me everything I need, with room to grow.
I was just wondering if anyone has had experience with them in the past and any other recommendations. I am looking for a server with at least 250GB transfer, 25GB storage, root access, Plesk and 256MB RAM (I might settle for 128 if the price is good). I also don't want to pay more than $30 per month.
Also, any tips on how to transfer Drupal sites between hosts? -

The thing that is driving the price up is the root access. I dont know, but bluehost gives you an option of getting ssh. But you have to send your id in. -

The best place is WHT for asking the best value for money.
I use a few different providers; I'm not gonna list them here (as they are for clients), but they can all be found on WHT. -

SSH is great but it doesn't necessarily give you root access.
I will look into WHT. -
