Sorry for the offtopic post but this is driving me nuts. I bought a very nice pen tablet from buy.com which came bundled with Adobe Elements. The website said it came with version 3.0 but when I got the software/tablet, the disk in there said it was elements 5.0 (but the serial printed on the envelope was for version 3.0). I contacted Adobe and they basically told me "tough cookies, contact the reseller - we don't support version 3.0 but you can probably upgrade for another 100$ to the latest version) and when I contacted buy.com via email, they gave me a form letter that said "send it all back for a refund" - except all I need is the bleeping serial for the version they sent me!! OR a copy of version 3.0 since I already have the serial ... Anyone have a number for buy.com support? or any suggestions? HELP?!? I am lost in 'bot email h3ll!

Thank you Aaron. I called them and for them to "fix" the software issue, I have to ship the whole thing (12x9 tablet set PLUS the software) to them at my OWN expense, wait for them to receive it, process it, and send me a "replacement" in 7-10 business days after they receive and process. Anybody know where I can get a full version of Adobe Elements 3 since I have the serial for it? or a license/serial# for version 5 (which they sent me on CD with the version 3 code)that I can purchase or whatever if you got multiple copies of it bundled with stuff you bought? This just seems ridiculous to be jumping through so many hoops?!

In Australia, if the seler stuffs up they are 100% liable for the costs... check with your laws, they may have to pay, not you.. it's not your fault.

Icyone: that sounds like it might work (starting July 1st), since all the old Macromedia stuff works like that.

@Icy .. thank you. I have the elements for Photoshop serial, not for Premiere (and I have never edited video)but I appreciate the link!

@DeanStev: I called Genius (the folks who made my tablet) and their tech support was the nicest I have talked to in a long time! We will see if I get the serial for Ver 5 or a place to download ver. 3, or what, but the gentleman seemed to be very willing to go look it up and let me know what he could do. A lot more useful than the people at buy.com (who barely speak English with an accent so heavy I can't understand it the first time around - and I am very used to a variety of accents!!!) or even Adobe, and I know some of the head honchos at Adobe from events I have attended ...

@cthelight: Thank you for the offer. My frustration is that I bought the more expensive version of the tablet (by about 25$ admittedly, but that's a month of hosting!) to get the bundled software, and have come up against a brick wall both on the adobe and the reseller (buy.com) side of things.
No wonder Adobe gets pirated all the time... their software is VERY spendy (the UPGRADE to version 6 costs more than what I paid for the tablet!! and its a nice 9x12 tablet with pen and mouse!) and they refuse to support older versions as if they were ripped up dirty socks! *grumble*

Keep your fingers crossed for me folks ;) And THANK YOU THANK YOU for all the info!

@Perth: in the US, most sellers will pay for a return for exchange, but an outright return if they shipped the wrong size/item? my experience has not been great ... esp overstock.com!

Use newegg next time - (I got my tablet from them) their service is outstanding.

All I did was google elements trials so perhaps you can find the correct download like that. I only spent a moment but noticed there where several I just picked adobe as it was the safest (I'm paranoid yup...)

Newegg was @$150+11$ shippingNewEgg Price while buy.com was $114 plus FREE shipping (or 2 day express for 6$) so with Taxes and everything it was about 123$ shipped - the software bit is mostly aggravating, but if it doesn't get resolved, I do have photoshop CS3 which is a bit overkill for some of the basic photo editing I need to do ... but it does the job. Tho even with 2GB RAM, large photo files are VERY hard to open on my older XP system ...

Thanks IC1 ;) I even called them and they do not support anything except versions 5 & 6 right now although their archives may have "updates" available. They were about as helpful as an aspirin for a ruptured appendix :P

Its funny since I have the disk for version 5, that came bundled with the serial for version 3, and its driving me monkeysh!t cr@zy dealing with the tech support all around. Supposedly the guys at Genius are goint to get me a working/unlocked copy since they do not have access to disks or codes ?!? Weird huh? Still waiting on them tho ... Oh well. Good thing i have plenty to keep me insane!
