    Not necessarily for this site but for any forum or site. I really just want to get my name out there, ya know? (I would love to be a mod for this site though.... whatever happened to those elections... lol)

    to answer the original question: you can't just join a random forum, pm the admin and say 'can i be a mod plzkthx?' people generally won't give out power to those they don't know. so find an oline community, join it, post, help out, and then maybe, after several months (or years) you will get offered the position, or you will be able to apply for it.

    why do i even ask... i sincerely appologized, i contribute to the open source and open design community, and i help people out here whenever my my skill and knowledge apply. I love this place and its members. I don't feel like I should have to explain myself again. I have never met such a group of unforgiving people...

    Heh... lighten up Connor. I was just giving you a hard time. I know that you are really passionate about this community. If we ever do have elections again I wouldn't say that I wouldn't vote for you.

    Sorry to bring it up again... but it was in the wee hours of the morning and I was cranky because of the project I was working on.

    Sorry I came off as an ass.

    I'm with XSQueen. I dunno what's going on.

    but, anyway. I've moderated and admin'd several forums over the years. The quick way is to start your own :P The good way is to just hang out there for a while, prove your worth, post a lot, and act mature (not implying you're not, it's just one of those things that admins look for).

    however, don't do all that just because you want to be a moderator of a forum. Do it because you care about whatever community you're joining.

    @Connor: I don't think Mike was trying to be a jerk, just joking around a bit.

    I can see how you took it for more then what it was and Mike cleared up his thought process on it.

    I poke fun at people too and give them a hard time. When I do, it means I like the person but if it bothers them and they let me know, I don't do it anymore.

    Anyway, keep doing what you do around OD and you will most likely get added to the list for upcoming voting, etc as soon we are going to have some changes with admins and moderators.

    I'll start a new thread about this now.

    i appologize... that was early morning for me too. I over reacted a little. its hard to tell tone on a forum (for me at least) and @ mike... who can get mad at someone that starts a post off with a colbert quote..... lol... i consider supplying a "tone" style sheet, please feel free to contribute...
