    My count is 23-19 in favour of sponsored links.

    If my templates where to appear here or anywhere with someone elses sponsored links in them I would not hesitate in removing them from the site completely.

    I do NOT want anyone making money out of my generosity, however, I do not mind people downloading them and doing as they wish - that's up to them but after I have submitted them here, a free site, I would not expect anything to be taken advantage of.

    Now, if there was an opt out system where adverts are only displayed if you give expression, then I would be fine with that, how about sharing revenue with those who choose to do so?

    I don't think you understand the backstory regarding this. See this thread. It's not about the site (OpenDesigns) injecting sponsored links in submitted templates, but the designers putting them in themselves and, in one way or another, requiring that they stay somewhere in the template. There's a lot of grey area to consider.

    This vote isn't specifically anything to do with the requirement of sponsored links remaining in templates after download but just a 'Yes' or 'No' as to whether you think it is okay for designers to add sponsored link to their own templates (under any circumstance).

    Maybe the fact that the vote is about designers placing the links and not OpenDesigns should be added to the original question up top?

    Jen / outsider - my bad.

    I did read the thread, but only caught the last few pages in all honesty.

    I'm afraid though that it would not change my vote, I believe that open source should mean advert free, but that if the author wants to be credited, then he or she should have a clickable, search engine friendly link in return.
