I recently ran across Cushy CMS. It's a cool idea for a cms system where you can make a design and define editable areas just by adding a div with the class="cushycms".
The only problem is, they host all your content and you have to go to their site to login and edit it... anyone know of a flexible, light weight cms like this that you can host yourself. -

Both nice cms's (i've tried nanoCMS before) and I demoed sNews over at opensourcecms... but you still have to build your designs around the cms. I was wondering if there was a CMS out there like cushycms where you could define certain areas of your design as editable and have the cms automatically allow editing of those areas (this would be ideal for a small <10 page static website). -

not really (for sNews, at least), you can't edit the template from the admin panel, but if you build your template, you can easily "plug" code into the template where you need it.
I just recently built a template switcher for sNews that allows you to use different templates for any article, page or category. You can try it out here: http://4inchorange.com/snews_templated_2/

I think something like nano or snews could be modified simply enough to do this.
Take a look at jQuery, specificially tutorials on using the edit in place functionality. -

See an example here: http://15daysofjquery.com/edit-in-place-with-ajax-using-jquery-javascript-library/15/
If somebody could build a little CMS with this, I also would be happy. Bob?

Already started one Wolfram! :) Doesn't use jquery, uses prototype http://4inchorange.com/projects/sNews/editinplace/
Still in development, but it's working decently. I may change to jquery though.

Uuh, that's really cool Bob, but unfortunately only sNews, which I can't get working on my hosts (mod_rewrite problem). I would realy really like to use sNews, but no chance...

Bob, any chance to make a little PHP script with the jQuery stuff shown above which saves the edited content in simple flat files? Sorry, I have no idea (PHP idiot).
But I will give the sNews mod a try... -
