I kind of want to vote for 2, the second being non-blog theme. But that's too broad to pick on it's own. -

Side note, we need someone who can count up the total votes once we close voting in a week or two, so if someone wants to start that now in a document off site and when the time comes, post the final total, that would be awesome. -

I voted the OD Garden as I think it's about time the skills of the coders where combined with their design abilities, rather than just the design abilities on their own, as some of the coding on the templates I have seen here can be pretty bad!
I don't really see the point in numbers 2 to 12 as they are all pretty standard and stuff that would be too easy to copy from elsewhere.
It's about time we where tested! -

@Sean... I'll count them... all we have to do is count them at the end as the tally is updated each time someone copies the thread.
I take it it's ok to vote more than once? Shall we limit it? -

Just an FYI, so everyone here can see who the current admins and moderators are, look at our board page.
Also, I think people should only have one vote, meaning you can only vote once on the list of possibilities. If you like more then one thing on the list, put your name by it but only once. I hope that makes sense?
Of course moderators and admins are also welcome to vote too. -

Keep the votes coming...Posted By: janpd24Who's keeping count?
I am/ anyone can... the final numbers can really only be counted with the final post of this thread, that is, the current count is the current post. Others may change their mind towards the end so it's no use counting now. In any case this thread makes it a good record for accountability.
Should we allow votes to change? I can't see why not... I'll add it to the top post.

You may change your vote/s at anytime, just make sure you make a NEW post to reflect your change (DON'T JUST UPDATE YOUR OLD POST) - the final count will be the what the final post reads. -

Why should people change votes? Once they vote, that should be it. When you vote for Presidents and other things, you can't change your vote. Once in, that's it. People need to think about the vote, make a vote and stick to it. -

Being able to change votes will actually make the vote result more 'accurate'. Let me explain how.
It is becoming clear the vote is a 2 horse race. As the vote goes on it will be clear those who have not voted for these 2 horses will have effectively wasted a vote or more or less had no 'effective' input.
By allowing everyone to change their minds it effectively gives us the vote a built in system of second and third and fourth and [add infinitem] preferences. It is effectively the same as (much better than actually) allowing 2 votes. Ideally the most accurate result is one where there is no wasted votes, and this ensures that (should the voters wish to exercise that choice).
This is what we don't want to see...
theme 1. 150 votes
theme 2. 155 votes
theme 3. 10 votes
the winner is theme 2. but all those who voted for theme 3 have wasted their votes unless they can change their votes. They could potentially all votes for theme 1. and therefore theme 1 would be the winner (and the more accurate winner).
Having said that we shouldn't be allowed 2 votes. Just the option to change votes.
The Presidential elections are not like this only because it would be impossible for the vote to handle updating all the country's vote over two weeks like this - but it would be a whole heap more accurate - they have to draw the line somewhere. We have the luxury of a small voter population and easy means to update the voters choice and so we should do so for a more truer result.
No one will be able to say they didn't have a 'meaningful' say in which theme should win.
Elections should be held this way too. -

To make this vote the fairest possible I think there should be only one vote and have that one vote changable (see my previous post)... having two votes corrupts the fairness of the vote changing and therefore makes it less fair/accurate overall. -

@pete: Your theory is an interesting one but I still don't agree.
If it ended up like you said:
theme 1. 150 votes, theme 2. 155 votes, theme 3. 10 votes
Which would show theme 2 won, that's great. The voting system works.
In your example the people who voted for #3 are the lowest vote. If everyone had the chance to change a vote to go with the majority, why even have a vote in the first place?
You win some, you lose some. That's how voting works. -

I think what he's saying is:
Imagine this situation:
150 people prefer #1
155 people prefer #2
10 people (who vote first, not knowing how things will end up) prefer #3. However, of those 10, 8 feel very strongly that #3 is the best option and dislike #2 passionately. Near the end, seeing that their favorite option has no way to win, they can adjust their vote to make sure that the one they DON'T want loses.
I'm not saying this is the best option, just that it does allow certain strategic advantages to the voters beyond just voting with the masses. -

I still stand by what I said. A vote is a vote. If people can change or alter a vote on a whim, what's the point in even voting. -

Why don't we have a vote-off between the two obvious majorities? That prevents the problem outlined above, even if it is more rigourous and time consuming. -

XSQueen and myself just added additional ideas, and everyone who has already voted doesn't get to choose any of the ideas added after their vote - we needed to compile and agree on a list of ideas BEFORE voting. and i still think this voting system sucks :p -
