This is a good way to make money from your templates
being upfront about how much they cost (to remove the attribution) is a great way to go.

A lot of the old school OD designers already have policies like this in place which is great. Andreas is one of them that I know for sure. All he asks is for people to make a donation. He doesn't even specify an amount. -

As far as forced link removal, is there really a point to it. I don't see you making very much money from it (I don't know how much anyone has made), and people would rather just remove the links anyway. -

I think it's better than just saying "contact me if you wish to remove the attribution"... People get intimidated if they have to email someone personally and not want to 'discuss it'. Why do i have to contact him? Am I going to get ripped off? Is he going to ask questions about why I want it? They'd rather just pay a little amount and having an easy payment method to do so without having to contact the owner is less intimidating. -

http://templatefusion.org/remove-copyright.php.
I've had that since the day I started TF. I'm converting to WP soon and then I'll offer an automated system of some sort.
@perthmetro, the reason people ask for you to email them, is because they might want to use the template on for example a blog host, which means the template would be used 100s or 1000s of times, with no link back... Which doesn't help us. -
