Self Promotion: How to quote for ads on website?

    I got a mail from someone asking how much I'd charge for advertisement links on my site. I'm not sure how to come up with a suitable quote. So far I only have Google Adsense, Money4Banners and Text-Link-Ads...

    Any ideas?

    How much do you want to make off the site each month? Divide that by the number of slots you would be willing to sell, and then adjust that number a bit (Either to make it round, or to give a wider margin). Or you could just double the value TLA will give you for the same advertising scheme (their calculator is offline right now). You will also want to charge more if the site you will link to doesn't seem like sumething you really want to support. If someone is in a businees where many frown upon their industry, or won't deal with them at all, they will not mind paying a premium for advertising space where they can get it. Talk to Karen, she does her own ads (no middlemen). I hope I helped.

    Sure, though I'm not quoting the amount for various reasons (if anyone contacts me personally, I'm happy to disclose). She mainly had to say that with decent traffic and PR, one could do well selling text links. Giving a yearly discount was another idea. One thing to look out for is that they are targeted links.

    lol..hi guys...I removed the text links from my site because most of them had nothing to do with my site and Google will penalize you if you buy or sell text links to manipulate search engine rankings.
    so my advice is to be extremely selective and careful. You are much better off selling banner ads and one particular size (125x125) is very popular at the moment. Apparently people are getting good results from them. Note: charge more for banner ads than text links.

    Up in the frozen northlands (Ontario, Canada), we just had a major defrost, and all the giant snowbanks are now little piles of sand.
