As many of you allready know, I am making a flat file blog/CMS program that enables users to register at the site and an account and CMS are created for them. My next step is providing different themes so the user will have some more choice. I will host a contest for these themes. The contest will be essentially like zengarden... I will provide the code and you all change the styles. No javascript (except in css), php, or any other programing languages will be allowed. The winner, whom i will choose will recieve their Google adsense script posted on all blogs, forever!(if this isn't legal, let me know)(it will also be posted along with mine). All accepted themes will recieve a link to their creators site. I have not yet developed the default code. So Until then... go ahead and comment.

sean: because of the amount of simplicity that I am trying to implement, All the templates willl use the same source code except for the CSS. -

Is this something that is a *blog* layout only or are you open to other design styles? Is there a list of requirements of what elements a template must have as a bare minimum (besides your code) .. i.e. calendar, archives, photo gallery, etc? Looking forward to giving this a shot.

At the moment there is not.... The post that the user submits will be in a blog style but if you believ you can win with a certain design... go for it...
And because my CMS is in its first stages calanders and photo galarries are to be added later... So don't worry about those -

Considering some of the great designers that are on here, I am having no real illusions of "winning" but it doesn't hurt to try and see what I can come up with - that's how you learn, right? And I have a LOT of learning to do!

Well in this contest almost everyone wins right... Everyone learns something and everyone gets a link to there site -

Judging by lack of feed back I can see that few are interested... please spread the word about this contest.... Is it not a good enough prize... Admins, is there a was that a post could be posted on the website?
If I were to post the code in the next couple days what would be a good deadline? MAy first? or is that to long/short? -

maybe you should focus on getting your blog/cms system up and running before worrying about templates... something like this can't be whipped up in a few hours, it'll take a lot of time, testing and tweaking.
also- why flat files? you'll probably find things easier if you use mysql. -

i know. I just find flat files so cool... I will later use a MySql Version later... I also will have it available for download in the distant future and flat file is easier for peple who dont ave sql or dont knw how to create a database... Great Idea... i wonder if I could make a script to set up the database for them... and if they didn't have a sql it would use the flatfile version -

Here is my take on it: A Content Management System has to be pretty powerful before people not directly involved will do things for it, like make themes for it, and your system (which I could not find) probably isn't there yet. No offense meant, but your own site is still powered by wordpress, so the CMS is not ready yet.
The default theme has some problems with it, which probably doesn't help. under body there needs to be a %-based font-size measurement, and all other measurements of font-size need to be either %-based or em-based, instead of pixel-based. In the HTML, there is an awful lot of ID'ed division tags where perhaps paragraphs or heading tags may have been more appropriate.
There isn't too much incentive to do this contest, unless the designer uses adsense (Look around, a lot of people do not use that), if the proposed prize isn't against Adsense's TOS (Terms of Service). Find out if it is or is not against Adsense's TOS.
Where can someone download the CMS, to try it out? I couldn't find any links on your website. -

I totally see your point.... is should stop referring to it as a cms now becaue it was originally going to be one but it evolved onto a blogging software instead.... the reason it isn't for download yet is here. And that is pretty much the final thing accept getting all the files organized.... and the designer in me is prevailing over the programmer and wanting to see the designs first.... thats my excuse i guess. ill check up on that adsense thing. -
