As of right now, we have the following people selected to be moderators for the forum which also have voting rights on ideas (not in any special order):

    {List Removed}

As things develop, we'll keep you posted.

** edit **: we decided to give a few more days for moderators to nominate themselves, and then we will hold anonymous elections, however yugnats is for sure in :) so the elections will be for the remaining 9 positions. If only 10 total people get nominated, that makes it hard to vote, so spread the word about the elections.

I suggest that for the moderators....give more time for more people to "apply" (this is not an urgent need). Then hold a vote (anonymously).

edit: thanks for deleting that post wink

sean: Those extra days are great, exactly what I asked for. I wish that you had waited a few days with the administrator nominations as well, since not everyone who wanted to give that role a shot got the chance. Being effective is good, but since the community is the basis of the project it is good to give the message a chance to spread before too many major decisions are made.

andreas: i'm sure at some point there might be more admins for the site and having moderators as well will give a lot of influence from the community since things will be voted on...

my personal thoughts on you being an admin is you seem to be very busy with your own site and projects and what has caused issues with oswd and owd is only one or two people were doing things or had limited access... and for additional admins to work, there needs to be dedicated time given to any project so things don't just fall on one or two people.

a good example would be on OWD, if you look on the about page you will notice four maintainers/admins listed... and of course you've had admin access too even though not listed on the site... but in the past 6 months and pretty much after MonkeyMan sold the site, i was the only one doing approvals and the only one being active in the forums... with this new project, the hopes and ideas are more people will be involved...

i see you andreas as a marketing and fund raising machine... because you seem to shine in that area. what do you think? maybe there could be an official marketing / fund raising board or advisors with you being lead marketer?

I'm not sure I'm really well known enough to be considered for an admin position, but I've got a lot of free time on my hands during the week (weekends not so much, but still enough to do what needs to be done) and I'm pretty capable when it comes to running things. Just a thought...

That's why you become a mod, to become better known, and constantly helping things along. I look forward to seeing the new site in its uber-minimalist look. I want to be a mod to vote on issues, and approve designs. If each mod was allowed to approve/deny one design /per day, things would move quickly, as not every mod will even be doing approvals. That would also allow the admins to focus on bigger things: sponsors, contests, updates to site functionality. Admins: what privileges will moderators have?

gnome: at this point i think moderators will be:

    1. moderating the forums and/or specific categories in the forum. maybe a moderator or two for each category
    2. moderating/approving designs
    3. of course voting on various things for site improvements, etc.

These are not set in stone and of course more things will be added, I'm just tossing out some ideas of things already discussed...

seanrox: I never said that I wanted to be an admin. Really. As you wrote, that would take up a lot of time. I don't have that time, since I am already working full-time with building and running websites. That is why I wrote in the admin nomination thread that I didn't want to get nominated - but that I could always join the team later on to help out with other things.

I had the possibility. But other designers and site owners who wanted to get that chance didn't find out about it until the four (or really just three) nominees were up for the vote. I know that there is no perfect justice, but the rush isn't all good at all times.

Andreas, no one is trying to rush things... but admins did need to be in place some what quickly because things need to get rolling... the moderators will also have a big say in things... shoot, just members of the community get a say in things... this will be good.

Take a look, I made a new thread about marketing... and volunteered you :)

Just my two cents here, but I think both the admins and mods should be in place before the site "gets rolling". Why start with only half of the "government" established?

Because the admins can make decisions much faster than a gaggle of moderators. Besides, the community get a good bit of input as most decisions occur on this forum...

thanks Joe, I just think I'm maybe too emotional to be any good to you (it's the sensitive, artistic side of me tongue )

moderators need to be level-headed and impartial, and thick-skinned..which I'm not.
I do know my own limitations..

instead, I'll help with theming...sourcing out and reviewing plugins, writing tutorials, and articles, and in general making a nuisance of myself...lol..kidding!

Ainslie is definitely a guru. If not for the nice themes, then definitely for making the Technorati top-20 list. Damn A-lister! bigsmile

Building the author.php template is done in the same way as building a regular page template, with the difference that it usually ends up having more template tags. Good things to include on the author.php page are user data (including user presentation), submissions (attachments?) by this author, posts by this author, comments by this author and possibly also events by this author if you use events. Once the author template is ready, just link to the author pages from the appropiate places (for example "Post by [author]") and everything should be running smoothly.
