    Hi all,

    I've been working on a minor design makeover for my site, and wanted to hear your first impressions on the appearance and usability.

    Some things I'm not totally satisfied with...


    1. Navigation. Would it be better on the left hand side, under the music player link?

    2. Dead space on the right and left. I've tried to fill it up a little with those floating boxes, but what do you think?

    3. Anything else you can point out would be a great help!

    Well there's 2 suggestions I have

    1. On music player make the text more clear its hard to read

    2. Make another page for extras don't put on home page

    I really like sing along (reminds me of Tenacious D). I'd make a number of media pages, one for photos and one for movies. I'm not really fond of the outside links. I think that your music should be the biggest thing on the page, like 700x400 pixels, right under your navigation. For the navigation, try increasing the spacing between the header and navigation, and adding more vertical spacing inside the navigation. I personally like dead/white space.

    kirby145: Hah, yeah.... I think I was having too much fun with Photoshop. I need to clean up that text, it's a little messy.

    gnome: Hmm. yeah, I see your point, gnome. I wanted the music player as a popup, so people could navigate away while still listening to the music. But I suppose I could do both. Have a dedicated page for the music player, then have the option to switch to a standalone player (like on the MySpace band pages).

    Thanks for your suggestions for the navigation; I knew I needed to do something to make it more noticeable/usable, I just didn't know what.

    I like the pop-up player, but the link to it needs to be BIG.

    Ok, so I'm almost satisfied with it now. I have the musicplayer on the actual page now, with a link below it for a standalone popup. I cleaned up the nav a bit and made it bigger. The only other changes I have planned are that I'm going to scrap the "Buy the CD" and put a shopping cart there (once I get the store set up). Visitors can then order the CD or buy single MP3s.

    Oh, and the music player starts up upon pageload, is that noticeable enough, gnome? :p

    So, thanks for the tips so far, is there anything else you can spot or suggest to make the site better?
