Also, the contest submissions will be released to the public here on OD in a day or two, so if you guys want to fix them up a bit (like removing the logo etc.) you can use the edit function.

I hope the screenshot system is automated... because the ones in snop's design are a different shape.
The CSS in snop's design doesn't validate, due to min-width ...

    • the search part just needs the action set to: "http://www.opendesigns.org/search/" and it will work

    • theming wordpress, theming wordpress admin tools, theming vanilla, so that they all look like part of the same site.

I'll post bugs as I see them...

    • On the search page, I can't see the little box.

    • On the design display page, could someone change the scrolling="yes" to scrolling="auto" ?

    • the pop-up display for designs shows the license twice: once where it should be, and once where validation should be

The new design still needs allot of work, I just couldn't resist temptation so I put it up. Over the next few days I'll be fixing all those little issues.

As I just posted on the site news page (home page) we are way ahead of schedule as you can see, the new design is up. We still have a ton of tweaks and hooks to get into place but as always, it’s being worked on day by day.

Thanks to everyone for their continued support with the new project... and be looking for more exciting features and additions as we move into the new year.

Click the link on the home page that says "designs" which will take you to the designs page.

Down at the bottom you will see "more designs" which will take you to the next page and so on.

We are still tweaking everything to work with the new theme, so be patient as we are doing all of this live.

Such a great design! I looked through the code & was very impressed - snop's got a great coding style, very clear + commented. I noticed that when I go to Print Preview & then mouseover the design thumbnails they disappear - another thing to be fixed?
It's really great having the design up so fast! OD looks very smooth.

Hmm, the welcome back link on top links to your real name instead of the username, so it messes it up. Like mine links to ?user=Dave when my actual username is darkfate. Also, the textarea box that you use to reply comments doesn't have a border tongue

I'm aware of that problem, anyone who set their display name to be different then their user name will have it. I will fix it today.

I know all of the guys are working on the new design integration. It looks awesome. I don't know if you are aware about some issues i'm experiencing. First when you click a post on the main page yellow bar for some reason it does not scroll down to the first unread. If I go directly to the forum and then pick a talk then it does. Anybody else experiencing this?
Second, I did a browser check of th edesign, although the design looks exquisite in FF it has some issues when viewed with IE6: the search has no hover and for some unknown reason the little icons on the main page beside the thumbnails have a strange bluish background and a large margin which sort of breaks the alignement. OK I know you all hate IE as much as I do but unfortunatelly some people will be viewing this with IE.
    Happy new year!

the little icons on the main page beside the thumbnails have a strange bluish background and a large margin which sort of breaks the alignement

I can offer an explanation to why the icons have a "blueish" background. The little icons are .png files, and IE6 cannot display .png correctly so you get the weird tint on them. So that should just be a case of using a .gif or .jpg for those icons :) As for the margin, I noticed this when doing a browser shot yesterday evening to compare the design in various browsers, but didn't have anyone online at the time that has IE6 on their computers and could test it live to double check. So thanks for confirming and we'll work on a fix for it.

    - Happy New Year Everyone!!

(p.s. the Vanilla intergration that Joe's been working so hard on, so far it looks fantastic! that should hopefully be live within a few days)

Very odd about the bluish background since there should be an IE filter being applied to take care of that. The reason there's no hover for the search is because IE doesn't support the :hover pseudoclass on elements like input. Ah the joys of web design.
  4.
Ah the joys of web design. - You got that right ;-) But it truely is a gorgeous design Pat!

There is JS to give you that hover effect. on any element. http://www.htmldog.com/articles/suckerfish/
The PNG images: can you not just drop a background colour onto them (white for the two used in designs, yellow for the forum ones)
