I think we did this at the other site, but i just spent the past hour or so cleaning up my desktop (it can get quite cluttered. just wondered if anyone else is as disorganized as i am. )

Please note: this is after the clean up :)

Ha me too, I have 75 icons and folders on my two monitors and I kept my count by writing in the dust with my fingers. Clay dust gets everywhere here at our studio.tooth

I got inspired and cleaned up my desktop! It can be cleaned more, but this is good progress for me!

I also don't like to have any icons on my desktop. I use dual-monitors so my screen is a little wide.
    twofivethreetwo's desktop.

My main monitor is a 22" Dell WS LCD set to 1680x1050. My second (right) is a 19" HP CRT set to 1280x1024. One is a CRT and the other is an LCD and the different resolutions causes the misalignment on the screen. I use the second monitor mainly as my extras (twitter app, google talk, widgets, iTunes, etc.).

I'm not nearly as clean as the rest of ya:

The pic is one I took at the Master's Practice round at Augusta (for the golfers out there).

And yes, I'm rocking Vista, and loving it.

Oh and by the way, for any other Windows users, you must check out RocketDock if you haven't already.

RocketDock looks pretty cool. I was going to d/l it, but I realized that I really never see my desktop. I have have all the programs that I use most often in "Quick Launch", so I rarely go to the desktop to open anything.

I've just downloaded RocketDock, and am going to install it! I love the dock on the Mac OS *looks sadly at my old iMac, all packed away because I live in a tiny house and there's no place for it* :(

@bakercad - Once I got used to RocketDock. I actually got rid of quick launch. You don't have to go all the way to the desktop every time. It has features for "Always on top" and "Auto Hide" just like the MacOSX dock.

@bradm81 - I'm gonna give it a try. I have a LOT of programs in my quick launch (37), so I doubt I'll put all of them in RocketDock. But, I'll give it a whirl and see what happens.

Yes but its right on top of open programs, and you can auto hide it also (like brad said), I was shocked when I found it right on top of my open firefox with a nice clear dock as I thought it would just show up on my desktop.

djahandarie: did you compile and install that yourself, or use the automated installer and modify it from there?
  4.
I did it all, besides using a program to generate the kernel, since that gets rather messy.

I tried the RockedDock today and I love it. It made me rearrange my desktop again.

I kept my toys to the left and add RockedDock to the top (hidden). I love it.

djahandarie: Yeah it really does get messy. Unless you know exactly what every chip on your computer is (google helps), you will compile, and it may never boot. I have a gentoo box, but I don't have anything installed yet, because I just low-level formated the drives. I am moving to a 2-drive ReiserFS system (on 10,000 RPM SCSI drives), with a 64 bit kernel, and support for GNOME only.

I keep an icon free desktop with a fully loaded quicklaunch. The picture is one I took while I was just wrapping up plowing for the day (The red thing in the middle of the picture is the guide on my plow.)

My brother and I own one of the largest plow companies in the city with roughly 85 Commercial parking lots, two MDOT rest areas, a few private streets, and 25 residential driveways.

It's almost time to start pushing white gold again! bigsmile

I change my desktop picture about once a week, and for a while I posted my desktop pics on my blog. The category is Here
Basically, I only keep work in progress on my desktop, and clean up every few days.
As for application shortcuts, that's what the dock is for...
