I redesigned my site, Graystatic Design. My last site design was a little too bright for my taste and I started not liking it, so I did a redesign. I want to know if you think it's an improvement. So here's my site: Graystatic.net,
and this is a page showing what the it used to look like.

Yes! I really do like these colours better! They're less bright, as you say yourself, which makes it more pleasant to look at. :)

    I agree with soyrosa..

One thing I did notice though: your portfolio link "disappears" when viewing the "Templates", "Request" and "PW2" pages.

I am glad you like it.
Thanks bakercad, I recently added the portfolio page and forgot to link it everywhere.

I would also vote for the new design over the old :)

I'm in the process of redesigning my web site. I want to do it right - using css and one of your templates. My current web site uses frames - which I want to move away from. The trouble I'm having is setting up a site navigation design in a smart way. I expect that over time I'll want to add new navigation buttons. It seems that at least for the templates I looked at that the navigation commands get placed with the html source of each individual page - rather than some referenced css style sheet. How is this an advantage - I least with frames I could modify one html page - and then the whole site was done. I figure that there must be a way to do this with css, right?

Your server is supposed to build your pages, using PHP Includes. so you use the .php extension, (assuming your host supports it, or that you have the module installed) and create a page menu.php with all of your menu information in it, then add to each page <?PHP include('menu.php'); ?> exactly where you want your menu to appear. You can use my contact page here If you want some more info and a working example.

kolbeman - you may want to consider using a cms. if you're going to be changing your site content and adding new pages all the time, a cms will really make things a lot easier.

Yes, I do like the new design better, however it took a very long time to load on my machine. Perhaps that's because you are based in America, while I'm down in Australia.
I do, however, think that perhaps a little less contrast in colours on the grunge would have served better.
I also agree with greg, that if this is meant to be a portfolio, and to be updated often, you should use a CMS or CMS-like platform, say wordpress. (on that note, I could probably convert your theme to a wp theme rather easy. meh, it's you choice.)

Good luck with your site, Nathanbakie

I'm not so fond of the bright colours.
