It's almost impossible to find a monitor that is NOT widescreen. If anyone knows of a site that sells monitors that are NOT widescreen, please show me a link.

In smaller tft sizes ( 17" and 19" ) there are more normal panels than widescreen. In bigger sizes (20" --> 24") its harder to find good old NOT widescreen tft.
I like 20" 1600x1200 TFT monitors most, and example LGL2000CN is good and cheap choice. -

I had a terrible time getting a non-widescreen laptop last year! -

Just think about this: A year ago someone posted a thread asking the exact opposite question.

Is there a reason you would want standard vs wide screen? I personally use two 22" wide screens. -

Really it's just personal preference. I like a 4:3 ratio. It's what I'm used to and, to me, it makes more sense. Also, standard screens are actually larger in terms of screen area:
A 21" diag screen in 16:9 aspect ratio gives you 188.4 sq/inches of area.
A 21" diag screen in 4:3 aspect ration gives you 211.7 sq/inches of area.
Wide screen makes more sense to me for watching movies or playing games, but that's not what I'm doing. -

I know that I don't feel cramped on my 4:3 monitors, although I use 2 of them, giving me many, many pixels (3200x1200). It is actually better than wide screen, since the resolution is higher. -

I just prefer the wider screens as I can have more apps open next to each other (another reason I use dual). I mostly do webdesign and development but also do video editing and production as well.
