    I've started this topic in responce to this post.

    Here are my suggestions:
    The featured design would be picked based on having the most downloads from the previous month. It would be featured for 1 month and could only be featured once. If the same design has the most downloads for the next month as well, the 2nd most downloaded gets featured.

    For an article on the design to go along with the feature, we set up a standard "questionnaire" to ask the designer a few questions. Link to the designer's OD Profile and site.

    This is a good idea bakercad, but before someone else brings it up, what about the designs from months ago with a ton of downloads?

    As we know, designs that have been on the site longer, have more downloads.

    Also, if we only feature one design a month, it would take forever to feature everyone... we are at almost 800 designs.

    Designs already get featured on the home page.

    Maybe have 5 featured designs a week? or maybe 10 a month?

    Like you, just tossing out ideas bakie

    Oh and I really like your idea of a standard "questionnaire" to ask the designer a few questions.

    If we could get a ranking system going then we could go by that maybe?

    I think that a rating system (while it is a good idea and much needed) is seperate, in that there will (hopefully) be controls for sorting designs (instead of simply order submitted) , with two of the options being by rating and most downloaded.
    I like the idea of having it based on most downloads in each month. As for the programming side of things, there really wouldn't be much to it if we used the news system already present to post the featured design. One of the mods could handle it each month, or it could rotate between all mods and admins (on a 1-month 1-year cycle). Do you like that plan of action?
